Have you ever wondered if you could produce a better meeting through implementing sustainability practices? Did you want to try it out but when you started out things started to get a little daunting/overwhelming/scary? Not to worry, GMIC has the answer!!!
GMIC in partnership with Twirl Management is launching the Certificate in Sustainable Event Planning  as a 360-degree learning environment to create a new class of sustainable event practitioners. The students will be working towards the mission of creating, guiding and implementing the sustainability goals and performance outcomes of the 2014 Sustainable Meeting Conference. Through their participation the students will be responsible for the successful implementation of the sustainable event initiatives. Calls with the GMIC Sustainable Event Conference planning, marketing and client teams, communication with vendors, potential site visits and pre-con attendance will be part of the curriculum.

Adult learners that participate will receive recognition onsite as the Conference Green Team and a GMIC Certificate in Sustainable Event Planning. They will have an opportunity to present their case study findings to the greater GMIC Community.  Students will walk away with the knowledge, tools and confidence to implement the highest quality of sustainable meetings and events. CEU credit is available.
The course will be guided by "Sustainable Meetings Coach” Johanna R. Walsh, CMP,who has planned over 10 APEX compliant meetings since the standards were released last year. Guest appearances and teaching from sustainable event experts, suppliers and planners will create not only sessions filled with dynamic instruction and interesting case studies, but it will also utilize the conference learning objectives in a real world event planning setting.
This GMIC course includes 40 hours of instruction and application plus onsite field work. The process will lead each class participant through the achievement of practical application in sustainable meeting and event management. The majority of the program is online with some offline experiential application of concepts.
