The Road to Event Sustainability at the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention

The words McDonald’s and green don’t usually go together in people’s minds, but the fast food giant is fast becoming a leader in the green meetings movement, thanks to the work of event pro Julie Larson. As one of the best known global consumer brands, McDonalds Corporation has been working for years to ensure their restaurants and suppliers achieve ambitious sustainability goals, and they need their World Wide Conference for franchise owners and their staff to reflect that commitment.

The, convention held every two years in Orlando, attracts over 16,000 global attendees and for over a decade McDonald’s has collaborated with industry leader Freeman to move the event to a more sustainable outcome. Jeff Chase, Freeman's Sustainability VP, helps guide large clients like McDonald's in how to achieve their business objectives and put sustainability into action including incorporating the recently launched APEX/ASTM Exhibits standard. This webinar will present some of the challenges and solutions of working with a team of vendors to identify and exceed green meeting goals.

Key Learning Objectives include:

· How to create a Sustainability Action Plan and establish a tracking report

· How to effectively coordinate with facility operations, general service contractor and other vendors

· Tips on training and energizing the union workforce and leveraging charitable partnerships
